Peg Usner, Artist
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Peg focuses her plein air oil painting on the beauty and bounty of subjects in the landscape and architecture of the Deep South. The moss hanging from oaks along a lazy bayou, a bright summer sun on graceful facades or an egret in the shallows of Lake Pontchartrain, each inspire her naturalistic style. "Being in Nature excites me. It's not just the appeal of color, texture, line and light but the reaction of heightened senses and feel of the time or season. Projecting that on to canvas and bringing the observer to see and feel what that view brought to me, is my goal. Focusing on the creative process as the moments unfold over just a few hours is an immersive experience that engages me entirely." See her work at Gallery 600, Julia Street in New Orleans.
